Das Zentralheiligtum von Olympia - Der Tempel des Zeus

Im Vordergrund rechts vor dem Tempel eine Art Baldachin unter dem der Stumpf einer altertümlichen, verbrannten Säule stand. Diese Säule soll ein Rest des Hauses des Oinomaios gewesen sein, dessen Untat beim Wagenrennen mit Pelops den Zorn des Zeus erregte, der es mit einem Blitzschlag einäscherte.
Der Mythos ist in der Figurengruppe des Ostgiebels des Tempels thematisiert.
Davon und von der Säule berichtet Pausanias.
Der genaue Standort der verbrannten Säule scheint nicht ganz geklärt zu sein. Ich habe die in den archäologischen Beschreibungen am meisten favorisierte Lokalisierung übernommen.
The temple of the Zeus
In the foreground on the right before the temple a sort of baldachin under the butt of an ancient, burnt column stood. This column a rest of the house of the Oinomaios should have been whose misdeed excited the rage of the Zeus with the carriage running with Pelops who burnt to ashes it with a bolt of lightning.
The myth is picked out as a central theme in the figure group of the east gable of the temple.
Pausanias reports about it and from the column.
The exact location of the burnt column does not seem to be cleared completely. I have taken over the localisation mostly favoured in the archaeological descriptions.

Au premier plan à droite devant le temple une espèce de baldaquin sous la souche altertümlichen, la colonne brûlée se trouvait. Cette colonne, un reste de la maison d'Oinomaios doit avoir dont le méfait excitait la colère de Zeus à la course de voiture avec Pelops qui le réduisait en cendres avec une foudre.
Le mythe est pris pour thème dans le groupe de figures du pignon oriental du temple.
De cela et de la colonne Pausanias informe.
La position exacte de la colonne brûlée ne semble pas être éclaircie entièrement. J'ai pris en charge la localisation favorisée dans les descriptions archéologiques le plus.
